VERO BEACH — The latest pairings of competitors hoping to dance their way into the local history books were announced at a Meet and Greet reception Sunday evening at the Costa d’Este Beach Resort. Local celebrity “star” dancers have been matched with professional instructors and will compete in the fifth annual Dancing with Vero’s Stars event to benefit the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition.
Fittingly, as the nonprofit organization’s programs and services focus on healthy babies and families, the event will take place Mother’s Day weekend on Saturday, May 11 at an exciting new venue – Riverside Theatre, which has signed on a community partner.
Event co-chairs Cheryl Gerstner and Laura Guttridge introduced the ten couples, who will spend at least 20 hours over the next seven months perfecting their dancing skills and garnering support in the form of fundraising votes. Each $1 raised equals one vote for the dancer; scores are based 50 percent each on funds raised and dancing skills.
Visit the www.DancingWithVeroStars.com website for full biographies, additional information and to vote for your favorite star dancers.
The IRC Healthy Start Coalition and its community partners promotes a system of care to optimize healthy outcomes for all pregnant women, infants, young children and their families in the county.
