Thomas F. Mahlstedt, 64, died Oct. 3, 2012.
He was born in Flushing, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for one year, coming from Georgetown, Mass.
He was the chief archeologist for the State of Massachusetts; worked with the Department of Conservation and Recreation for 25 years; and was a member of The Georgetown Historical Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Mahlstedt; and son, Brian Mahlstedt, both of Georgetown.
A memorial service will be at a later date in Georgetown.
