VERO BEACH — The beachside business district is taking up the fight against breast cancer as the Oceanside Business Associations Merchants team up with the American Cancer Society in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, presented by Sebastian River Medical Center.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a 5K walk scheduled for October 20 at Riverview Park in Sebastian. Teams of families, friends, and businesses are currently raising funds to support the American Cancer Society mission of education, prevention, research, advocacy, and patient services.
The Oceanside Business Association Merchants team called “Shopping For A Cure” will raise funds and awareness on October 17 as participating merchants provide a day of shopping and hospitality.
Fifteen percent of proceeds from the day’s sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
The team T-shirts will also be available to shoppers who donate to the Shop For A Cure Team; donors are welcome to join the team for the walk.
The Shopping For A Cure team event has been the top fundraising team for the past two years.
