John Richard Knight, 62, died Oct. 03, 2012. at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born and was a lifetime resident of Vero Beach.
He worked as a citrus grower, mechanic and was self-employed.
He graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1968.
After high school he attended the Nashville Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, Tenn. and graduated in 1969.
He served in the Navy Reserves and served active duty during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Vero Beach Vets, the NRA and the American Legion.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret “Peggy” Knight of Vero Beach; brothers, Robert L. Knight and David A. Knight, both of Vero Beach.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd S. Knight.

Services: The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
