McKee to celebrate Community Appreciation Day with $1 admission

VERO BEACH — On Saturday, Oct. 6, McKee Botanical Garden will express its appreciation to residents by offering $1 admission in celebration of Community Appreciation Day.

Community Appreciation Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to $1 admission, the first 500 visitors will receive a complimentary copy of The Miracle of McKee by Suzan Phillips. Phillips, a longtime McKee supporter who helped to champion its restoration, will be available to autograph books from 10 a.m. to Noon.

“Community Appreciation Day is our way of giving back and thanking residents for their continued generosity and support,” explained Executive Director Christine Hobart. “Whether visiting for the first time or the fiftieth time, we encourage everyone to come and discover McKee.”

Visitors will receive $10 off any new annual membership that is purchased at the event. Memberships to McKee Botanical Garden begin at $35 for an individual and are available at various levels. Membership benefits include free admission for one year, a 10 percent discount in the Garden Gift Shop and Café, and free or discounted admission to more than 200 arboreta, gardens and museums across North America through the American Horticulture Society’s Reciprocal Admission Program.

Although Elizabeth’s at the Garden Café will not open for the season officially until November 1, it will be open on Community Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving a select menu of sandwiches, wraps and other light fare.

Community Appreciation Day is sponsored by the “AT&T Real Yellow Pages.”
