William Robert Stevenson, 92, died Sept. 28, 2012, at Grace Rehabilitation Center in Vero Beach.
He was born in Vero Beach, and returned to Vero Beach in 1979 from Wanamassa, N.J.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy.
He had a 26-year career in civil service as a military historian.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
He also was a member of Vero Beach Lodge No. 250, Sons of the American Revolution, life member of the Navy League of the United States, life member of the VFW Post 3918 and American Legion.
He was a graduate of Indiana University.
Survivors include his daughter, Edie Doland, of Lafayette, Ind.; sons, William “Rudy” Stevenson, of Vero Beach and Robert J. Stevenson, of Wilsonville, Ala.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Ruth Stevenson; and sons, Frederick P. Stevenson and Earl M. Stevenson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at Strunk Funeral Home with Masonic honors presented at 7 p.m. by Vero Beach Masonic Lodge No. 250.
A Celebration of Life service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5 at the funeral home with Dr. Charles Lever officiating.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors by VFW Post 3918.
