UPDATE: Vero’s National Night out postponed, Sebastian’s cancelled

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Sebastian’s National Night Out event tonight has been cancelled. Sebastian Police are looking into rescheduling the event in November to reach seasonal residents.

Because of a threat of inclement weather, the National Night Out at Riverside Park has been postponed to Oct. 10.


Sept. 25

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Fellsmere police departments, along with the Sheriff’s Office will be out at parks taking back the night from crime.

Cities of Sebastian and Vero Beach are planning on having their events Oct. 2 with Fellsmere’s on Oct. 9.

The Indian River County Sheriffs are planning on being involved in both Vero’s and Sebastian’s events. Sebastian Police will be involved with Fellsmere’s event and vice versa.

Vero’s event will be at Riverside Park starting at 5:30 p.m. and wrap up at 7:30 p.m. Sebastian’s will start at 5 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.

On Oct. 9 Fellsmere’s National Night Out event will start at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

All events are free to attend.

Both the Sebastian and Vero’s night will have K-9 demonstrations.

All events will disseminate information about the latest crime prevention tips, public safety equipment and the importance of being a strong community.

At Vero’s they will have police, fire, EMS units, marine units, and the Indian River County

Sheriff’s Department helicopter on display.

Sebastian’s will have the First Flight helicopter on display.

Free hotdogs and drinks for will be available for everyone supplied.

Publix is supplying food for the Sebastian event.

A seven piece band, Track 7, will also be playing at the Sebastian National Night Out. There will also be a “seatbelt convincer ride” to encourage riders to use them in their vehicles.

Neighborhood watch, Border Patrol with their craft on the water for people to view, and the FBI and Homeland Security will be on hand talking about their careers.

“Every year I try to make it a little bigger and a little better,” said Officer Steve Marcinik, Sebastian Police.
