John C. McDade, 77, died Sept. 7, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for four years, coming from Austin, Texas.
Before retiring, he worked as an engineer and for 10 years worked on engineering projects for Princeton University.
Survivors include his daughters, Donna Tomredle and Mary McDade-Bush, both of Vero Beach; son, John McDade Jr., of Brick, N.J.; brothers, George McDade, of Rochester, N.Y., and Eddie McDade, of Tobihana, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim McDade.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. with a memorial service starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
