Robert “Bobby” Lee Crimmins, 88, Vero Beach

Robert “Bobby” Lee Crimmins, 88, died Sept. 12, 2012, at VNA/Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He was born in Louisville, Ky., and lived in Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from his birthplace.

He was a graduate of Male High School in Louisville and was a member of the All-State Men’s Softball team.

He played for the Baltimore Orioles for four years. In 1989, he was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame.

He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Louisville and now attended St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian.

He worked for the Fall City Liquor Co. as a salesman for 20 years.

Before his retirement, he worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for 17 years.

He was a member of the Wildwood Country Club in Louisville and the Vero Beach Country Club.

He was a member of the city and state Democratic Party.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara Crimmins; son, Robert Russell Crimmins, of Houston; daughters, Janet Steier, of Louisville and Jennifer Love, of Grandbury, Texas; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Bruce Crimmins; a grandchild; and brothers, Steve, John, Mike, Ted, Tommy and Bernie.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
