Catherine A. Phee, 70, died Sept. 5, 2012, at home.
She was born in Chicago, grew up in Centralia, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach since May 2009, coming from Lake Floyd, W.Va.
She was a graduate of Villa Duchesne, St. Louis, Mo., St. Mary’s of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind., and received her doctoral degree in modern American and European history from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo.
She taught at Southern Illinois University, the Colorado Department of Education, Georgetown University, and Fairmount State College, W.Va.
During her tenure at Georgetown, she was the director of internship programs and traveled to China, Thailand, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Guatemala and Mexico with her students.
She served as a Eucharistic minister in West Virginia and at Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach.
She obtained her pilot’s license at 16.
Survivors include her children, Peggy Ashline, Deborah Clarke, Charlie Phee and Jane Rollinson.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Phee.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 11 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
