Medical Center implements new badge system for visitors

VERO BEACH — Indian River Medical Center has purchased and installed the EasyLobby®Secure Visitor Management System in the Main Lobby, Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Center to identify who is in the building and provide an improved level of security for patients, visitors and staff.

The Joint Commission requires that hospitals manage safety and security risks under Standard EC.02.01.01, Element of Performance C7 “The hospital identifies individuals entering its facilities.”

The system was purchased and installed initially at the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Center in early 2012 and implemented in the main lobby this month.

Visitors coming to the facility should bring a source of identification. If they do not have a photo ID, the security officer can take their photo using a webcam. The entire badging process takes less than 30 seconds.
