Martha K. Barthel, 85, died Sept. 1, 2012, at Florida Baptist Retirement Center.
She was born in Erie, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach since 2009, coming from Boone, N.C.
She was a member of the PEO and the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.
She was a retired teacher.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Roy Barthel of Vero Beach; daughters, Linda Hinkle of High Point, N.C.; Ruth Barthel of Grass Lake, Mich., and Amy O’Brien of Dansville, N.Y.; brothers, Charles Kilgore of San Antonio and Robert Kilgore of South Carolina; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a half sister, Jean Smock.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach.
