Hollis J. Barfield, 92, Vero Beach

Hollis J. Barfield, 92, died Sept. 1, 2012, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Tiftin, Ga., and lived in Vero Beach for 52 years, coming from Miami.

He owned and operated Seminole Barbershop in Vero Beach for many years and later worked for Town and Country Barbershop.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

He attended Community Church of Vero Beach.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen Bieber, of Vero Beach and Sharon Hutchins, of Sebastian; sister, Therese Carden, of Colorado City, Colo.; stepsons, Richard Bowen, of Vero Beach and John Bowen, of Charlotte, N.C.; companion, Patricia Smith; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Barfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County, 6230 77th St., Vero Beach, FL 32967.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 8 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach with a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with military honors to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach.
