John Joseph Mark, 83, Vero Beach

John Joseph Mark, 83, died Aug. 26, 2012, in Vero Beach.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 21 years, coming from Fort Pierce.

He worked as a meat cutter.

He was a Korean War veteran.

He volunteered at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

He was involved in the prisoners and homebound Eucharistic Ministries.

He also volunteered teaching in literacy programs.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Mark, of Vero Beach; sons, John J. Mark, Daniel Mark, Thomas R. Mark, Mark F. Mark, James Deberry, Thomas Deberry and David Deberry, daughters, Debbie Mark, Taffy M. Mark, Faith Johnson, Ann C. Mark, Jennifer Mark, Becky Thebault and Barbara Herring; sisters, Lillian Lostaglio, Theresa Mannheimer and Margaret “Peggy” Moschetti; brother, James Mark; 27 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faith Mark; sisters, Helen Womble, Mary Berholz and Grace M. McCauley; and brother, Joseph Mark.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 31 with a wake service at 6 p.m. at Haisley Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 1 at St. Helen Catholic Church.
