Eloise Jean Harper, 89, Vero Beach

Eloise Jean Harper, 89, died Aug. 22, 2012, at her home.

She was born in Oakland, Ill., was a winter resident of Vero Beach for 28 years, and lived in Indianapolis.

She was a homemaker.

She received her degree in journalism from Northwestern University and was active with the AOPI sorority and the Atlantic Symphony Classical Orchestra of Vero Beach.

Survivors include her daughter, Jill Bentley, of Vero Beach; stepsister, Shirley Murphy, of Vero Beach; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Thomas Harper; and son, Jeffrey Thomas Harper.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tennessee Wesleyan College for the Jeffrey Thomas Harper Scholarship, 204 E. College St., Athens, TN 37303.

At the request of the family, services will be private.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
