Sebastian Police car involved in crash at hospital after police make arrest

SEBASTIAN — While responding to a burglary in progress, Sebastian Police received a tip that the perpetrator was 58-year-old Mark Sheridan, son of the owner. The subject was observed breaking into the residence in Palm Lake Subdivision while the owner was out of town Friday afternoon.

During initial contact with Sheridan, he resisted arrest, according to Officer Steve Marcinik. Also, during the struggle a handgun fell from his waistband.

Sheridan received minor injuries after resisting arrest and was transported to Sebastian River Medical Center before being booked in at the Indian River County Jail on felony charges of burglary, possession, of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting arrest without violence, and criminal mischief. His bond was set at $36,000.

While at the medical center where the police car was properly parked, a person not involved in the arrest incident, backed into the car. No one was injured.
