No injuries reported after possible tornado hits Vero Palm Estates, Countryside

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — No injuries have been reported after a possible tornado hit both Vero Palm Estates and Countryside, two mobile home parks near 82nd Avenue and State Road 60.

An estimated 20-30 homes in Vero Palm Estates, a mobile home park on 82nd Avenue, were damaged. The park is across from the Life for Youth Ranch at 82nd Avenue and 16 Street.

Emergency personnel are on scene to assess damage.

According to emergency dispatchers, some of the homes in the park were rendered uninhabitable and other agencies are being called in to assist.

Live power lines have been reported down in the area of the mobile home community and power is being shut down to that grid.

Emergency crews have also responded to a damaged home in the 2500 block of 86th Court north of State Road 60, which had its roof removed due to the storm.

Vehicles in the area have suffered damage due to downed tree limbs, according to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Burkeen.
