SEBASTIAN — Sebastian River Medical Center presents the American Cancer Society 2012 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Saturday, October 20, at Riverview Park in Sebastian.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., with the walk beginning at 9 a.m.
Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in women.
Steven Salyer, Sebastian River Medical Center CEO, is taking up the fight against breast cancer, and employees throughout the hospital are joining him, as several departments are planning fundraising teams.
While this is the 9th year of the Strides Walk in Indian River County, it is only the second year of the “Put On Your Pink Bra” campaign. Nearly 2,000 participants, including breast cancer survivors, caregivers, and community volunteers, will wear decorated pink bras.
The “Put On Your Pink Bra” campaign is designed to empower women across the state to wear pink bras in support of the fight against breast cancer and as a personal symbol of their breast cancer journeys.
Making Strides is a noncompetitive 5K walk to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer and to provide hope to all people facing the disease.
