Dorothy Owens Smith, 92, died Aug. 22, 2012, at Atlantic Healthcare Center.
She was born in Fort Drum and moved to Vero Beach as a child.
She worked as a secretary in the citrus packing industry.
She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship Church, Sebastian.
Survivors include her daughter, Alma Fred, of Vero Beach; sons, Philip Chesser, William Chesser, Samuel Smith and James Smith, all of Vero Beach; sisters, Ruth Sparkman, of Vero Beach and Claudia Luikart, of Fort Pierce; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Arthur Smith; brothers, Wallace Owens, Felix “Shorty” Owens, Frank Owens and Robert Owens; and sisters, Loca Black, Bernice Tillis, Lorraine Hazelief and Annie Ruth.

A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Sparkman of Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship Church officiating.
