Eugene A. Oathout, 81, died Aug. 14, 2012, at VNA/Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in Iowa City, Iowa, and lived in Vero Beach for 48 years, coming from Coralville, Iowa.
He attended First Baptist Church in Vero Beach.
He was a commercial and residential real estate broker in Vero Beach for the past 40 years.
He was a member of the Vero Beach Rotary Club and the Indian River County Realtor Association.
He was the former owner of La Posada Motel in Vero Beach.
He served in the Air Force and was a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Survivors include his companion, Patricia Haber, of Vero Beach; sons, David Oathout, of Seattle, Wash., and John Oathout, of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, Ronald Oathout, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service at 1 p.m. Aug. 18 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory.
Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
