Richard M. Miller Sr., 74, died Aug. 13, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Schenectady, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 40 years, coming from New York.
In his youth, he was a professional boxer.
He started early in his career in sales with Westinghouse and several other companies.
He then became an officer with Metro Dade Police Department for four years and the chief security officer for Carnival Cruise Line for four years.
He ended his career in sales as the international sales manager of the Redman Division of Macho Products.
After retirement, he worked part time for the Supervisor of Elections Office in Vero Beach. He served in the National Guard.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Bonnie Miller, of Vero Beach; daughters, Cathy Bilaki, of Pendergrass, Ga., and Karen St. John, of Farmington, Minn.; son, Rick Miller, of Vero Beach; several grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Services: Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home with a service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery.
