Updated Aug. 10, 10:03 a.m. … VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department has identified the body of the woman found last night on the beach near Riomar as 57-year-old Nancy Howard, of Lake Wales.
Authorities have not determined foul play in the woman’s death and have not ruled out natural causes, accidental drowning, or suicide, according to a release put out by the police department Friday morning.
An autopsy will be conducted today by the District 19 Medical Examiner located at 2500 South 35th Street, Fort Pierce, according to Capt. Keith Touchberry, but the official cause of death will not be known until the results of the toxicology exam are known.

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department is treating the death of the woman found east of Ladybug Lane as a suicide.
According to Cpt. Keith Touchberry people walking the beach discovered the body of a woman born in 1955, from Lake Wales, in the surf during their walk.
Later, an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was dispatched to look for anything related to the death investigation.
The woman’s car was discovered at the South Beach parking lot and her belongings were found near a lifeguard stand.
An autopsy is scheduled for today and police are waiting on the toxicology report. There were no signs of foul play.
VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department is investigating the death of a female whose body was found Thursday evening on the beach 500 yards north of South Beach Park.
The police department responded to a call at 8:47 p.m., according to police spokesman Officer John Morrison.
The deceased was described only as a white female.
No other details were released.
Officer Morrison said that authorities were still working the scene as of 10:30 p.m. and would release more information Friday morning.
