Melendy Frances MacDougall Stegenga, 65, died Aug. 1, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Falmouth, Mass., and lived in Indian River County since 1985, coming from Poquoson, Va.
She was a graduate of Howard School for Girls in West Bridgewater, Mass., and received her bachelor’s degree from Wells College in Aurora, N.Y.
Before retirement, she was a realtor.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach, and a volunteer at both the First Presbyterian Church and the Community Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Stegenga of Vero Beach, Sarah Hamlin of San Diego and Mary Jones of San Clemente, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hume G. and Frances M. MacDougall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County, 6230 77th St., Vero Beach, FL 32967.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 6 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. George Earnshaw officiating.
