INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — While everyone is aware that the Supervisor of Elections office is busy preparing for the August 14 Primary Election, they might be surprised to know that these dedicated poll workers are serving their community in more ways than one.
Over the course of two weeks, poll workers and the public are invited to donate non-perishable food items for the Supervisor of Election’s “Cans for a Cause” food drive to benefit the Harvest Food and Outreach Center.
The mission at the Harvest Food and Outreach Center is to provide a hand up for those in need, helping them break free from poverty by offering hunger relief, crisis care, transformative education, and employment training opportunities.
The Elections Office staff will be accepting donated items at check-in during eight poll worker training classes. Indian River County residents are also welcome to participate by dropping off their non-perishable donations at the Supervisor of Elections office.
“Not only are our dedicated poll workers preparing for Election Day, but they are also supporting the needs of our community by participating in our “Cans for a Cause” food drive.
