Young volunteer builds a “house” for Habitat

VERO BEACH — It’s never too soon to learn about volunteering.

To help fund Indian River Habitat for Humanity’s Scholarship and Education Program, volunteers construct and decorate wooden birdhouses fashioned from scrap lumber gathered at Habitat jobsites.

So, when 6-year-old Garrett Lundgren’s grandpa gave him a birdhouse kit, Garrett set to work.

The birdhouses are on sale in the Habitat Home Center ReStore.

Garrett’s grandpa, by the way, is Habitat’s CEO Andy Bowler, who is proud to know that his grandson is already building Habitat “houses.”
