Deniece “Dee” Ann Thompson-Gates, 56, died July 22, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Fort Bragg, N.C., and lived in Vero Beach for 50 years, coming from Micco.
She worked the past three years as a cook for Marsh Landings in Fellsmere.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Thompson, of Vero Beach; son, Jessie Thompson, of Vero Beach; mother and stepfather, Nellie and Jimmy Priest, of Yeehaw Junction; father and stepmother, Dennis and Norie Hiers, of Eau Gallie; brothers, Earl Hiers, of Orlando, James Ray Hiers, of Yeehaw Junction and Roy Lee Harbin, of Vero Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thompson in 1998; sister, Janice Byars; and brother, Willis B. Hiers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. July 29 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach, with a memorial service to follow at 5 p.m.
