What issues motivated you to run for this office and what do you hope to accomplish during your term?
As a small business owner and Chairman of a large Florida business I knew when I ran for Tax Collector I would be able to bring sound policy and fiscal responsibility to this position. I have and I will continue to accomplish those goals thru good leadership.
Why do you feel qualified to run for this position?
I am running for re-election on my record of:
- Having returned over $9.5 million back to the taxpayers of Indian River County.
- Reduced overall budget by 11.2 percent and reduced my own salary and travel allowance by over $7,000.00
- Implemented full Driver License services for customer convenience without increasing staff or budget, thereby, saving taxpayers several hundred thousand dollars.
- Adjusted scheduling that substantially reduced staff overtime.
- Implemented the transition of old technology to new technology saving over $400,000.
- Eliminated the position of Assistant Tax Collector
Also, I became a Certified Florida Collector, which required a minimum of two years experience in the Tax Collector’s office and 120 hours of approved course work.
What, if any, changes would you make to how the Tax Collector’s Office is run and operated?
Our motto is “How May We Help You”?
As Tax Collector of Indian River County for almost four years it has been my pleasure to serve our citizens.
