Daniel Anthony Muscara, 89, died July 4, 2012, at Willowbrook Court in Indian River Estates, Vero Beach.
He was born and raised on Long Island, N.Y., and moved to Stuart in 2005 and then to Vero Beach.
He founded Wardam Steel, a family-owned-and-run company that provided steel for commercial buildings across Long Island.
He enlisted in the Army Air Forces during World War II, where, as navigator on a C-47, he participated in missions “flying the hump” over the Himalayas into China.
He was a member of Southward Ho in Bayshore, N.Y., and Mariner Sands in Stuart.
He attended Hofstra University in New York after the war.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Alice, of Vero Beach; sons, Daniel Jr., of Manorville, N.Y., and William, of Bayshore; daughters, Ruthann Perry, of Lawrenceville, N.J., Mary Beth Schamp, of Baltimore, Donna Hobby, of Brightwaters, N.Y., and Alice Ireland, of West Islip, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be at a later date on Long Island.
