INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Education Foundation of Indian River County (EF-IRC) is pleased to announce the receipt of a grant from the Clint S. Malone Memorial Fund, a charitable fund at the Indian River Community Foundation.
These grant dollars will be used to fund proposals to develop projects and programs focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education to improve the level of STEM instruction in Indian River County and to prepare students for careers in high-tech vocations.
The grants will honor the memory and legacy of the late Clint S. Malone. Mr. Malone was tragically killed by a drunk driver on October 13, 2007, while riding his bike next to his wife, Jennifer, in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Mr. Malone had a great passion for education. He loved to read, write, and excelled in mathematics. He also enjoyed swimming and playing golf with his friends.
Mr. Malone believed the key to success was to have confidence in one’s self and to develop strong social skills.
The EF-IRC will offer the Clint S. Malone Memorial Grants under their Great Ideas! Grant Program. Public and private primary and secondary schools in Indian River County may apply for grants from $2,500 up to $10,000.
The total amount that may be awarded is $10,000.
