Oliver “Rope” Gordon, 81, died June 26, 2012, at the Veterans Affiars Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
He was born in Wildwood and was been a resident of Indian River County for 50 years.
He was retired from the landscaping business as a heavy equipment operator.
He served in the Army for 10 years. He was a member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Gordon, of Fellsmere; son, Robert Charlie Coe, of Fellsmere; daughters, Diane J. Gordon and Oliver Mae Gordon, both of Wildwood, Viola Gordon, of Palm Beach County, and Melinda Jane Ross, Belinda Jean Williams and Tanya Ross Greene, all of Fellsmere; brothers, Jimmie Lee Gordon, of Jacksonville, Wenzle Lee Gordon, of Wildwood and Way-E Gordon, of Eustis; sisters, Alta Mae Gordon, of Fort Lauderdale, Maeulla Gordon Thomas, Early Mae Gordon, Lassie Mae Gordon, Carrie Bell Gordon and Classie Mae Gordon Hills, all of Wildwood; 23 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Lee Gordon and Wayne Edward Gordon; and sisters, Willie Mae Coleman and Gennie Mae Gordon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. July 6 at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Fellsmere.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. July 7 at the church. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Fellsmere.
