How to start a small business workshop on July 18

VERO BEACH — The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Treasure Coast SCORE, will sponsor the “How to Start A Small Business” workshop on Wednesday, July 18, from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce. The workshop is facilitated by SCORE Counselor Tom Spear.

Learn to:

Understand the fundamentals of business startup, marketing and business plans

Understand and identify capital requirements and credit score

Understand business structure, taxation and other regulations

Learn about necessary permits, licenses and employment issues

While there is no fee to participate in the workshop, due to limited seating, reservations are required.

Mr. Spear has a BS in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

For 32 years, he held a variety of business and technical positions with Ford Motor Company Product Development, 29 years as an executive.

Spear has been an adjunct business instructor at Indian River Community College and is a counselor with SCORE and the Small Business Development Center.
