INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Join the Sea Turtle Conservancy for the 2012 Tour de Turtles Migration Marathon Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29.
Things kick off Saturday with a Social and Silent Auction, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at the Barrier Island Center, 8385 S Hwy A1A, Melbourne Beach, FL.
Join us as we kick off Tour de Turtles with a celebration featuring hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, local artists and music.
Tickets are available for advance purchase online starting in June, or at the Barrier Island Center for $20. The deadline to purchase advance tickets is midnight July 20, 2012. Tickets will also be available at the door for $35. To purchase tickets online, visit www.tourdeturtles.org. If possible, carpooling is recommended.
Come back Sunday, July 29 for the Live Sea Turtle Release, starting at 8 a.m. at the Barrier Island Center, 8385 S Hwy A1A, Melbourne Beach.
Join Sea Turtle Conservancy & University of Central Florida researches as they attach a satellite-transmitter on a loggerhead sea turtle as part of the 2012 Tour de Turtles marathon.
Visit the Barrier Island Center to see the action live, including the turtle’s release under the Start Gate at 8:30 am, please plan to arrive 30 minutes early. From 9 am to 10:30 am, there will be fun family-friendly activities available.
This event is free and open to the public. T-shirts will be available for sale for $20 at the event. Parking is limited. If possible, carpooling is recommended.
