SEBASTIAN — The Friends of Sebastian Inlet State Park, Inc. has awarded two $1,000 scholarships for 2011/2012 to Rebecca Currie and Joseph Edmiston, volunteers working at the Sebastian Inlet State Park.
Carl Rodenbeck was a park ranger whose career spanned many years at Sebastian Inlet State Park.
He, along with a small group of volunteers, noticed a need for a citizen’s support organization advocating for the park.
They also recognized a need to keep the history and ecology of the park alive within the community.
A scholarship was created and offered as one such way to achieve this goal.
