HABITAT: It’s “drop and roll” weather….

A witty reporter on (my favorite channel) The Weather Channel, took the phrase often used in explaining what to do if you should catch on fire – “DROP and ROLL!” to describe the crazy high temps most of the county is sweating under. As in, “It’s ‘drop and roll’ weather.” So – would you rather be in dry or humid places where the temps soar into the 100’s?

Speaking of hot – one of our homeowners, Jude Carroll, is always doing some sort of project to benefit other people, whether it is her Grace Woods neighborhood kids or children who have lost their hair to cancer treatments or some other good cause – she’s one of those truly giving people you just have to tip your hat to.

Here’s the hot part: Jude recently entered her 15-month-old mini dachshund in the Senior Resource Association’s Hot Diggity Dog Best Dog Contest. Together, Jude and Hammer won the “Best Costume” award. Hammar was ever-so-adorable dressed as (wait for it) – a hot dog, complete with bun and mustard. Even though one of Hammar’s fellow contestants tried to have him for lunch and another mistook him for a fire hydrant, Jude says everybody had fun and laughed a lot.

TRIVIA ALERT: Why, you might wonder, does Jude spell Hammar’s name with an “a.” It’s sort of a play on words relating to the Habitat hammer, but mostly, the little pooch is named for Dag Hammarskjöld.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find out who that is. And, if you know it without Googling – I’m totally impressed.

Drive carefully and hydrate, and have a good one.
