Robert L. Slavin, 95, Vero Beach

Robert L. Slavin, 95, died June 25, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Athol, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach for 28 years, coming from Winchendon, Mass.

He owned and operated the former Slavin’s Pharmacy in Winchendon until his retirement in 1978.

He graduated from Murdock High School, Mount Herman Prep School and Bentley School of Accounting.

He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II and was in the air offensive in Europe.

He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and a Distinguished Unit Badge.

He was a life member and past commander of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion, was a life member of Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW, the United Parish, a member and past treasurer of Artisan Lodge of Masons, and a member of the Democratic Town Committee.

He was a former selectman in the Town of Winchendon and was a member of the town’s Finance Committee for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife of seven years, Connie B. Slavin; sons, William R. Slavin, of Mooresville, N.C., and Gary R. Slavin, of Charlotte, N.C.; daughters, Susan P. Slavin, of Leominster and Patricia A. Josselyn of, Chapel Hill, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded by his first wife of 49 years, Sylvia E. Slavin; and brother, Phillip Slavin.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. June 29 at Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home in Winchendon, Mass.

Members of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion will have Legion Services at 6:30 p.m. June 29 and members of Artisan Lodge of Masons will have Masonic funeral services at 7:30 p.m. June 29.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. June 30 at the United Parish in Winchendon with the Rev. F. Calvin Miller officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
