Inaugural “Riverside Dance Festival” happening now through July 7

VERO BEACH — Riverside Children’s Theatre (RCT) is thrilled to announce the approach of the “Riverside Dance Festival.”

Under the artistic direction of Adam Schnell (Director of RCT’s Dance Conservatory since 2009), this new summer program seeks to pair the influential dance professionals of today with the aspiring dancers of tomorrow.

Artists from two separate major American Dance companies will be in attendance. Diane Arvanites and Nikki Sell of Prometheus Dance (Boston) will be joined by Erika Overturff and Matthew Carter of Ballet Nebraska.

From now through July 7, this festival will incorporate local students and students who participated in auditions around the country and will give them a first hand look at what it means to be a professional dancer through classes, workshops, and rehearsals.

Students will also work alongside visiting artists to create choreography that will be showcased in a performance on July 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Students will be joined onstage by Carter and Overturff, who will present selections from Ballet Nebraska’s repertory as well as a new work, Piece d’ Occasion, choreographed by Adam Schnell, to celebrate the festival’s inaugural year.

Tickets for the July 7 performance are $12 for adults and $8 for students and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at (772) 231-6990 or online at www.RiversideTheatre.com.
