VERO BEACH — Michael “Chase” Banks, a graduate of Indian River Charter High School, and Gabriel Campbell, a graduate of Vero Beach High School, were both named recipients of this year’s Seacoast National Bank College Scholarship.
“Seacoast is dedicated to recognizing the leaders of tomorrow for outstanding standards of excellence and commitment to the community through the scholarship program,” explained Cathy Roberts, Vice President/Senior Manager at Seacoast National Bank.
“We work closely with the counselors to identify students who meet our requirements in order to help them fulfill their educational goals. Michael and Gabriel were selected based on this criteria and their outstanding applications,” Roberts added.
In addition to Banks’ involvement in student government at IRCHS and athletic achievements while attending another high school, he has volunteered for Oceans Conservancy, Indian River County Main Library, Indian River Medical Center, Cystic Fibrosis Haunted House, and the Greek Festival.
As a member of many student organizations, Campbell received awards and held leadership positions. He was active in Vero Beach High School Marching Band, Symphonic I and Symphonic II Concert Bands, Alliance Ministry Team, Alliance Youth Band, and Alliance Youth Group.
He also volunteered to perform with bands in many commemorative festivities within the community and participated in mission trips to Chattanooga, TN, and Cat Island, Bahamas, throughout his high school years.
Both graduates plan to attend Indian River State College in the fall.
Banks is studying Computer and Information Science; Campbell is studying Computer Engineering.
