Gilbert H. Johnson, 93, died May 23, 2012, at Oak Bridge Terrace, Vero Beach.
He was born in Spuyten Duyvil, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach since 1981, coming from Fairfield, Conn.
He was an alumnus of Mercersburg Academy and Cornell University.
He was a veteran of World War II serving as a naval aviator.
His business career was in the heavy machinery industry.
While residing in Easton, Conn., and Fairfield, he was a member of the Black Rock Yacht Club, Country Club of Fairfield and Brooklawn Country Club, where he served on the board of governors and as president.
He served on the board of governors and as chairman of the golf committee for the Moorings Club in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his nieces, Faith Johnson Schonfeld, Hope Johnson McCharen and Rosalind Wood Thebaud; and nephews, Bradley Northrop Johnson and Dr. Russell S. Wood.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Juanita Wood Johnson.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. June 22 at the Community Church, Vero Beach.
