Elwood “Giff” Gifford, 87, Sebastian

Elwood “Giff” Gifford, 87, died March 28, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Gloversville, N.Y., and lived in Sebastian for 12 years, coming from Lake Worth.

Before retirement, he worked for the city of Lake Worth as the print shop supervisor.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Forces in the China-Burma-India Theater.

He was a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters, American Legion Post 39 of Vero Beach and Sebastian River Medical Center Auxiliary and a volunteer firefighter in New York.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Gifford; daughters, Linda Boyington, of Vero Beach and Debbie McLeod, of Albertville, Minn.; sister, Ruth Gilbert, of Live Oak; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A celebration of life memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. June 10 at the Seawinds Funeral Home in Sebastian.
