Substance Awareness Council of I.R.C. honors outgoing board members

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Substance Awareness Council of Indian River County (SAC) honored outgoing board members for their service and dedication at the May 16 board meeting.

The Sheriff’s Office has provided continued board support since SAC began in 1989. Sheriff Loar is the first sheriff elected as Board Chairman and has served in that capacity since 2009.

The Sheriff has been a powerful leader in advocacy for preventing and treating substance abuse. His knowledge, time, and dedication while serving have been invaluable to the citizens of Indian River County.

Officer Shawn Hoyt has served many years as a very active committee chair and is the outgoing secretary of the board. He will continue to volunteer his time as an Event Committee member.

Mrs. Eleanor Simon has played a role on the board since SAC’s inception in 1989. She is the board historian and has served in many capacities, including Chair, over her many dedicated years.

Thank you to the above board members who gave their time and talent to support the efforts of the Substance Awareness Council of I.R.C. and the community.
