Carlo A. Rivasi, 90, Vero Beach

Carlo A. Rivasi, 90, died May 23, 2012, at the Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.

He was born in Ladd, Ill., and lived on the Treasure Coast since 1986, coming from Columbus, Ohio.

He worked for the Sinclair Oil Co.; 20 years for the Union Carbide plastics division; 10 years for the Amerace Corp., where he served as president of its EMC plastics division and president of its chemical division; president of the Swan Hose division; and vice president of the Amerace Corp.

He retired in 1986 from Borden Chemical as president of its chemical division.

He was a chemical engineering graduate from Purdue University.

He served in the Army during World War II as a first lieutenant in the 66th Division.

He served on the committee boards of Safespace, Opera Society, County Cultural Arts, and County Commission’s Budget Review.

He served as a member of the Indian River ACTS East Resident Board, and later became president.

He also was president of its FLICRA Board.

He served on the St. John of the Cross Finance Committee.

He was a retired member of the Fort Pierce Rotary Club and the Paul Harris Fellow.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Leona “Lee.”

He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Lee Rivasi; and 12 siblings.

Memorial contributions may be made to a Catholic charity of one’s choosing.

Burial will be in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at a later date at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.
