“We are thankful for the continued support of our fellow John’s Island community members. Their generosity has enabled us to provide funds to non-profit organizations who serve the neediest of our community.
Through a thorough vetting process lead by dedicated John’s Island volunteers, we have been able to fund essential capital needs such as replacing a roof for a women’s shelter or renovate a kitchen that serves hundreds of meals to those who are food insecure or establish a client tracking system to monitor mental health client services from one organization to another,” said Mr. Somers.
“Since our inception 13 years ago, The John’s Island Foundation has provided close to 300 grants totaling over $6.9 million to local non-profit agencies in our community,” Mr. Somers stated.
The John’s Island Foundation was established in 1999. Its mission is to raise funds from the John’s Island community for the purpose of making grants to fund capital requirements to agencies serving the economically disadvantaged in Indian River County.
The Foundation seeks to make grants to agencies whose programs are primarily directed toward supporting basic human needs such as food, shelter, assistance with disabilities/health issues, and safety from abuse.
