Gerald B. “Jerry” Fredlund, 76, Sebastian

Gerald B. “Jerry” Fredlund, 76, died May 15, 2012, in Sebastian.

He was born in New Milford, Conn., and moved to Sebastian in 1987, coming from his birthplace.

He joined the Marine Corps in 1954, attaining the rank of sergeant, and was honorably discharged in 1957.

Before retirement in 1987, he worked as a lineman and installer for Southern New England Telephone Co. for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons for more than 50 years, twice serving as grand master of St. Peter’s Lodge in New Milford, and more recently as a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sebastian.

He also was a member of the Shriners, including, after his retirement, the Azan Shriners Center in Melbourne.

He was a caregiver to a number of friends and family members in their senior years.

He was a graduate of New Milford High School in Connecticut.

Survivors include his daughters, April Daryanani, Christal Preszler and Catherine Ferris; brother, Gene Fredlund; companion, Evelyn Ricard; and four grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to share memories from 2 to 4 p.m. May 19 at the Preszler home in Newtown, Conn.

A ceremony will be at Arlington National Cemetery later in the year.
