“Dining to Make a Difference” benefits Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Association

VERO BEACH — “Dining to Make a Difference,” held on April 26 at HarborChase of Vero Beach, provided an evening of fun and fine food for 65 guests.

Over $3,300 raised during the event will support Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Association of Indian River County, in its 27th year of serving community residents with disorders affecting memory and movement by promoting quality of life and choice through advocacy, support, empowerment, education, and research connections.

Led by Executive Director Kara Anderson, the staff at HarborChase of Vero Beach comprised the volunteer committee including Chef Todd Bartlett, Sheree Gough, Director of Sales, Trish Kelly, Director of Memory Care and Life Enrichment, Tom Rockwood, Director of Maintenance, and Liz Barr, Director of Resident Care.

Vendor sponsors who donated and discounted food and linens were Downtown Produce, Erneston Produce, U.S. Foods, and Alsco.

“We are very appreciative for the gifts of time, talent, and treasure from the staff at HarborChase of Vero Beach and their vendors for this donation. They have truly impacted the residents of Indian River County whose lives have been challenged by disorders affecting memory and movement,” explained Peggy Cunningham, Executive Director, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Association of Indian River County.

“As a community that provides assisted living and memory care, they truly understand the impact that our organization has in peoples’ lives and have a first-hand appreciation for our vital services,” Peggy Cunningham said.

Services provided by Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Association of Indian River County include: support groups, a lending library resource center, monthly program meetings, caregiver training, Project Lifesaver Tracking Bracelets, respite care, an activity center, weekly exercise classes, and memory screening.
