Oslo, Storm Grove Middle orchestras to perform benefit concert

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Oslo and Storm Grove Middle School Orchestras, consisting of more than 200 students in grades six through eight, will perform a special benefit concert called “Bridges and Bayous” at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1706 16th St., on Thursday MAY 24 at 7 p.m. The students, led by Mr. Richard Ballinger, are joined by Old Barber Bridge, a group of talented local musicians, featuring folk, rock and bluegrass music.

Old Barber Bridge was formed in 2007 by guitarist, singer-songwriter Jason Nesbit and percussionist, Brandon Putzke. Nesbit, a native of Vero Beach and Putzke a native of Michigan, have called Vero Beach home since the early 80’s.

Both have been in several musical acts together for the past 25 years. Old Barber Bridge’s six-piece band also consists of long-time friend, Stewart Pierce on bass guitar and vocals, Eric Hall on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Kevin Lureau on harmonica, whistles and percussion, and Jimmy Alexander on saxophone, flute and percussion.

Old Barber Bridge plays a mix of original and cover tunes ranging from folk to rock to bluegrass.

All are invited to attend and enjoy an amazing acoustic mix of music. All proceeds will benefit the Indian River County Orchestras. Tickets are $10 for the lower Orchestra level and $5 for the upper level Mezzanine seating.
