INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Drive Rover over to The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County on Sunday May 20, when the shelter will host a free dog vaccination clinic from 2 – 7 p.m.
Thanks to a grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), The Humane Society will offer free basic vaccinations, including a one-year rabies vaccine, to the first 200 dogs four months of age or older who race on over to the shelter. The Humane Society is located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.
Dogs will be vaccinated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Attendees are asked to have their driver’s licenses or other state-issued identification handy when they come to the shelter.
“Our clinic will be a quick and convenient way to keep our county’s dogs healthy,” HSVBIRC Director of Animal Care Maria Ramirez said.
According to Ramirez, there’s often an increase in outbreaks of canine diseases during the spring and summer months. In addition, a rabies alert was recently issued in neighboring Brevard County.
“Vaccinating your dog at our clinic is free. There’s no reason to take chances with your dog’s life when preventative health care is readily available,” she added.
The HSVBIRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and protecting the animals of Indian River County.
