Joan J. Witt, 84, died May 10, 2012, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
She was born in Sedalia, Ky., and lived in Indian River County for 53 years, coming from Nashville, Tenn.
She retired as a quality control inspector, after 23 years with the Harris Corp., Melbourne.
She was named a Kentucky colonel by the state of Kentucky and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach.
Survivors include her sons, Randy Witt, of Moore, Okla., and John Witt, of Taylor Mill, Ky.; daughters; Cindy McCall, of Vero Beach and Kristy Witt, of Miami; brother; Malcolm Jetton, of Sedalia; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John B. Witt, former principal of Vero Beach High School; brothers, Wilford and Martin Jetton; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. May 18 at the Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. May 19 at the First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach.
