Indian River Charter High School’s National Honor Society inducts new members

VERO BEACH — Indian River Charter High School’s National Honor Society formally inducted new members April 16, 2012, for the 2012-2013 school year.

The formal ceremony was held at the Richardson Center at the Indian River State College Mueller Campus. The current officers of the National Honor Society – president Jack Kramer, vice president Zachary Hilberer, treasurer Jessica Ragano, secretary Jennifer Stenback and historian John Leatherman – ran the ceremony, and each presented speeches for the four pillars of NHS: leadership, character, service, and scholarship.

This ceremony recognized the outstanding academic and community service achievements of the new NHS members. Each student selected to participate in NHS must maintain a 4.0 weighted GPA, be at least a sophomore, and provide evidence of community involvement.

Their applications are reviewed individually by a special Faculty Council at IRCHS.

The following students were inducted into NHS having satisfied all of the above criteria: David Beavers, Kathryn Borruso, Desiree D’Amico, Nathan Duerr, Anna Kenney, Rachel Koruo, Chris Moutsos, Mirage Patel, Joshua Pearsaul, Nicolas Ramirez, Kaitlin Ruby, Devon Rymer, Casey Simigran, Kasia Wake, James Dangler, Drisana Etayo, Alana Geary, Julian Grudens, Justin Lahman, Jordan Lulich, Thomas Rider Jr., Taylor Rozier, Marian Snyder, and Erin Walls.

After receiving their certificates of membership and lapel pins, Cynthia Aversa, director of IRCHS, led the students in reciting the pledge of the National Honor Society to formally induct them into the organization.

Being accepted into the National Honor Society is a great achievement, and the new members of the 2012-2013 school year should be very proud of their accomplishments thus far.
