VERO BEACH — The Robert F. and Eleonora W. McCabe Foundation, in conjunction with the Mental Health Collaborative, Suncoast Mental Health, Inc. and the Connected4Kids Coalition, will be offering free training for parents and families on May 10 at Gifford Middle School starting at 5:30 p.m.
This program is entitled: Survival Skills for Parents: Building Resiliency in Your Family.
The event includes a free dinner, structured childcare, and skills building workshops for both parents and their children.
The event is part of a week-long celebration entitled “Speak up for Kids” of children’s mental health sponsored by the Child Mind Institute.
All parents are encouraged to attend the workshop.
The objectives for the parent workshop will be:
· Learn how to be resilient yourself as a parent
· Learn about strategies to support your child at each stage of development
· Learn practical strategies to help structure your home to be a more positive learning environment
· Learn about how we can practice resiliency activities and language in our day to day family life
· The school psychologists will be sharing many well researched ideas for useful take home strategies you can start using right away.
Free pizza dinner will be provided for all attendees.
This workshop and breakout sessions will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with dinner being served from 5:30-6:00 p.m.
RSVP is requested.
Children ages 5-17 will be included in the breakout sessions, therefore, no additional childcare is provided at this workshop. Children under 5 may remain with their parent during the presentation.
