Free Art activities, entertainment, and exhibitions at VB Museum on April 28

VERO BEACH — For 31 years, the Vero Beach Museum of Art has presented its annual Children’s Art Festival. The festival will be held on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the museum offering young people and their families an admission-free cultural event that celebrates the creativity and diversity of young art lovers from along the Treasure Coast.

Free youth and community entertainment includes: (Leonhardt Auditorium) St. Edward’s School Wind Ensemble (10:30-10:50 a.m.), Riverside Children’s Theatre (11-11:20 a.m.), Osceola Singers (11:45 a.m. – 12:05 p.m.), Christi’s Dancers (12:30–1:05 p.m.), Lozada School of Music (1:15-1:50 p.m.), and a special preview screening of the 6th season of the PBS television series Art21 [Art in the Twenty-First Century]* (2-2:50 p.m.); (Lobby) Treasure Coast Elementary Chorus (10:15-10:35 a.m.), and Vero Beach Elementary Performers (2:50 – 3:10 p.m.); (Main Entrance) Osceola Dancers (11-11:30 a.m.), Vero Beach High School Drumline (11:30 a.m.-12 Noon), and the Community Drum Circle (12 Noon-1 p.m.); (Atruim) Lozada School of Music [Group 1] (11:45 a.m.-12:20 p.m.), and Lozada School of Music [Group 2] (1:45 – 2:20 p.m.); and (Holmes Great Hall) The Imagine School of South Vero ~ Orff Ensemble (11:15-11:45 a.m.); Osceola Magnet School Drum Ensemble (12:15-12:35 p.m.), Rosewood Magnet School (12:30–1:05 p.m.); Vero Classical Ballet (2:30-2:50 p.m.), and K-5 school art displays on view all day.

Free youth and family Museum Art School studio activities include: (Studio 1) “Festival Art Bags;” (Studio 2 & 3) “Mixed-Media Printmaking Activity;” (Studio 4) “ELC’s Sym-My-Tree project;” and (Studio 5) “3D Sculpture.”

Free Museum art exhibitions during the festival include BEYOND REALITY: Hyperrealism and American Culture; STEPHEN KNAPP: Lightpaintings; CYCLE OF CHANGE: Tom Nakashima’s Treepile Paintings; FUSED, BLOWN, AND CAST: Glass from the Permanent Collection; MATTHEW GELLER’s Woozy Blossom ,and Sculpture from the Permanent Collection in the Alice and Jim Beckwith Sculpture Parks, and the opening day of the Indian River County Juried Student Exhibition.

At 3:30 p.m., the public is also invited to attend the “Awards Ceremony” for the winners of the Indian River County Juried Student Exhibition in the Museum’s Leonhardt Auditorium.

Lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Museum’s Chelsea’s @ the Museum Café in the Laura and Bill Buck Atrium, as well as from food/refreshment vendor “Sunside Fun and Snowballs”, stationed at the Museum’s main entrance.
